New Home

Hi everyone! This is the last post at ChefGirlRP Cooks....don't worry I'm not retiring from blogging I've just moved to a new one! Times are changing and I was feeling like it was time for something new. It's just a hop, skip, and a jump away to the new spot. Thanks for sticking with me through the dry spell of the past month! And I'll see you over on The Pleasures of a Prairie Girl.

Camera treats

One thing I love doing is handing off my camera to someone else during a evening or event...and then the next day when I upload the pictures onto my computer I am always delighted to see what the person captured.
Here are some of those pictures that were taken a week ago...
These 3 pictures together have to be one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.

Wow, eh?
And another one...

And lastly...

Aren't those wonderful? Sometimes I prefer this than taking my own pictures.

Holi-day

This past weekend Zach and I headed out of town...we packed up Subee and took her to a small farm near Boissevain where we hung out for 2 days. It was so nice to be out of the city and in the middle of rolling hills and green, green trees.
The drive there was fun...first with me taking the wrong (but ended up working out) route...gosh, I'm becoming known as an awful navigator! Zach stopped at all the spots where I said "HEY! I need a picture there!". Which means I got photos of me holding up a bale with a mannequin in St. Claude:
and pretending to be in Holland:

I know, that one is really far fetched...but use your imagination people!
Be a turtle in Boissevain...a derby turtle no less!
Now, try saying "turtle derby" 4 times fast!
Zach didn't want any pictures in "Holland" or holding a bale...but he didn't object to the turtle!

I also got a picture with the World's Largest Turtle....I'm only guessing that it's the largest in the world....but you have to admit it is huge!
All I did for the weekend was read, go on a walk, eat yummy food, and sleep. That's it. It was heaven.
Here is Zach on our hike...

It was positively gorgeous there...
What a perfect way to spend a weekend! Hopefully you are all getting chances to escape (even for a night) this month!

Subee

I would like to introduce you to someone....her name is Subee and she is my new car!
She's a 10 year old Subaru Forester...she's...amazing. And cute. And quirky. And standard. And so fun!
I'm sure we'll have many great adventures up north!

July

Yay! I'm back up and running! Thanks to friendly staff at the Mac store I now know how to movie pictures around! And not only that but I have internet! Time for catch up! This post was supposed to go up about 2 weeks ago!
Here is a short recap of July...
My FAVORITE Floridians came to visit...we got to spend more time together than most visits as well as a special trip to Clear Lake with my Chantrelle Mushroom....

A few of us women had a birthday celebration for our friend Daisy, a principal at a school up north in Norway House, and I got a job. Mahahaha! Didn't see that co
ming did you?? That's right, I'm heading up North for the year to work in one of the schools as a part time education assistant and part time cook for their breakfast and lunch programs...bringing healthy food into the school. I am beyond excited and very much looking forward to the year.

Daisy (my new boss) on her birthday

I have been spending lots of time with this little guy...

...not only have I gone to the zoo more times in the past few months than in my entire life but we've also had great adventures at Lower Fort Garry, Brushfire, Fort Whyte, to name a few. I think one of the best ways to spend time is playing with a 2 year old!

I also attended a full weekend of Folk Fest...my 20th year going! I spent time with one of my favorite families and best friend. It was a fun-filled and exhausting weekend!

After all this I was due in for a trip to Spa a la Curle-Hodgsons...

Pints of raspberries were picked...and pints of raspberries were eaten.

We celebrated Si's birthday...the usual way...good food, good conversation, and of course a trifle!

I can't believe it's already August!
